Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve

Timucuan Ecological & Historical Preserve is a breathtaking natural and cultural gem in northeastern Jacksonville, spanning 46,000 acres of pristine coastal wetlands, salt marshes, maritime forests, and waterways. Managed by the National Park Service in partnership with state and city agencies, the preserve encompasses remarkable sites such as Fort Caroline National Memorial, Kingsley Plantation, and serene trails perfect for hiking, kayaking, biking, wildlife viewing, and ranger-led programs. Located at 12713 Fort Caroline Road, it lies approximately 20 miles from the entrance of the EverRange community — typically about a 25 to 30 minute drive, depending on traffic.

Big and Little Talbot Island State Parks

Big Talbot Island State Park & Little Talbot Island State Park: Just northeast of Jacksonville, these two adjoining coastal treasures offer immersive outdoor escapes. Big Talbot Island State Park, famed for its dramatic “Boneyard Beach” with eerie driftwood skeletons set against rugged bluffs, is ideal for nature photography, bird-watching, hiking, biking, kayaking, and picnicking. Little Talbot Island State Park, the larger of the pair, spans approximately 2,500 acres of pristine beaches, maritime forests, dunes, and salt marshes. It features a full‑facility campground, picnic pavilions, bath houses, boat ramp, nature trails, and opportunities for biking, canoeing, surfing, and wildlife spotting—including river otters, marsh rabbits, bobcats, and migratory birds. From EverRange, the drive to Little Talbot Island State Park is about 25 miles and takes approximately 39 minutes. Big Talbot Island State Park lies just north of its sibling and is around 27 miles away—typically a 40 minute drive.

Guana Tolomato Matanzas Reserve

Just south of Ponte Vedra Beach, this expansive 76,760‑acre coastal reserve showcases diverse ecosystems—pine flatwoods, salt marshes, maritime hammock, dunes, estuarine waterways—and provides an immersive “living classroom” experience. Visitors can explore over nine miles of nature trails, engage in bird-watching (including peregrine falcon migrations), kayak, fish, picnic, and learn at the interactive Environmental Education Center equipped with exhibits, aquaria, and hands-on programs. From EverRange, the reserve is approximately 22 miles away with an estimated 30 minute drive, depending on traffic.

Anastasia State Park

Anastasia State Park sits just a bit south of St. Augustine on 1,600 acres of natural beauty, featuring over four miles of powdery white-sand beaches, tidal marshes, maritime hammock, and dunes. Visitors can explore the Old Spanish Coquina Quarries—an important archaeological site listed on the National Register of Historic Places—as well as enjoy activities like bird watching, biking, hiking the Ancient Dunes Nature Trail, kayaking in Salt Run, surfing, fishing, and shelling, with rentals and facilities graciously provided on-site. From the EverRange community, the park is approximately 44 miles away, with a 55 minute drive—making it an easy and rewarding seaside escape.
